“Working with Jean has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in a really long time. Before I reached out to Jean, I was beyond frustrated with my work environment, questioning myself constantly and unable to move in the direction I felt called to pursue. After a few meetings and with Jean’s ability to sift through the chaos that I had spinning around in my mind, I was already making huge strides towards the ultimate goal of really understanding myself, my fears, and the items that were keeping me from making my next career move!”Connie F.
“I felt I needed support from an objective observer who had the tools to see through any of my issue avoidance tactics and who could help me help myself. What I experienced was that if you are willing to be open to the tools and methodology then you can learn about yourself, your motivators and your barriers. People should understand that [in] coaching you are being challenged and driven to help yourself find the solutions to your own issues. This gives a great sense of satisfaction when you are able to move ahead and get past blockages that previously seemed insurmountable.”Nicholas H.
“When I began working with Jean, I was immediately attracted to her strong and compassionate nature and I was easily able to connect with her as my coach. I came to Jean feeling disconnected from my inner self and my outer life and I knew that something was missing – I just didn’t know what. Jean helped me explore who I really am deep down, what I really want and need out of life in order to gain the fulfillment that I was searching for. I am now more connected to my inner self, more engaged in my outer life and excited about the fulfilling future that lies around me and ahead of me.”Marisa S.
What sets us apart from many other coaching and consulting firms is our insider experience.
Our education and training helped us build a solid foundation, but at the end of the day, our roles as recruiters, trainers, and managers are what give us the competitive edge.
Here are some other things that we believe help us provide exceptional solutions for our clients:
In the context of our practice, Coaching refers to creating space for the Client by asking thoughtful questions that allow for clarity, intentions, and solutions to emerge.
A basic premise in Professional Coaching is that the Client knows themselves better than anyone else and, that in most cases, they have the answers within them and just need help to bring those out.
Our experience is that our professional coaching results in creating a safe and confidential space that allows the Client to get clear on what they want while increasing their confidence.
Consulting, on the other hand, implies the identification of a problem or issue and the process of applying relevant information or skills to address the gap.
Practically speaking, at Pursuit Lodge we bring our extensive insider experience, along with our education and training to problem-solve with our Clients, with the end goal of increasing their marketability and effectiveness during their job search, career transition, and overall professional performance.
When hiring a Career Coach, it’s important to know that you are not only paying them for the time spend with you on one-on-one sessions, but also for the value they have in the market, which is influenced by their education, experience, and overall capability to provide practical solutions.
If you hire the right coach and are willing to put in the work required, this expertise translates into a coaching and consulting relationship that increases your marketability and enables you to hit the ground running during a time of career transition.
Most coaches also decide to work with a limited number of Clients to ensure they are providing targeted solutions to their needs. So unlike a “normal” 8-5 job, most coaches will not see 40 clients in a week. This is due, in part, to the attention needed in a coaching setting (high degree of presence, intense listening, and problem-solving) in addition to the supplemental time required pre and post calls, and the time needed to stay current on the job market, hiring practices, research, etc.
Coaches can be found at all price points though. So please do your homework and have a chat with any potential coaches you are considering to ensure you feel comfortable knowing that their experience meets your needs.
